What is Bortop?

Bortop is a powdered quicklime for Bordeaux mixture. It is used together with copper sulphate for the Bordeaux mixture.

Calcium oxide 95.0% min.
・The official name is "Kaneju Powdered quicklime for Bordeaux mixture".
・Registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries No. 5287.

How to make the best lime milk

1 80 litres of water.

You cannot use polyethylene buckets.

2 Add Bortop.

While stirring the water, add 20 kg (1 bag) of Bortop.

3 Stir for approx. 10 seconds

Once the Bortop has been added, stir with a stick for a further 10 seconds.
The mixture quickly becomes lime milk in 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

4 Allow the mixture to settle.

After stirring, allow the mixture to settle. The best lime milk is made within 5-10 minutes after stirring (do not get too close as it will boil). This makes a very slow-settling Bordeaux mixture.

Bortop Handling notes

1 Always store in a place of low temperature and low humidity.
2 For storage after opening, remove air from the bag and always seal with a rubber band.
3 If it gets on skin or in eyes, remove immediately, rinse well and seek medical advice.
