What is Bordeaux mixture?
Bordeaux mixture is a fungicide with a history of more than 130 years, since its creation in France in 1885 as a fungicide.
It is used extensively for its dual action of killing pathogens and strengthening the vine's resistance to disease.
Sprayed on the vines, Bordeaux particles cover the surface of leaves, fruits and trunks, preventing the entry of pathogens from the outside.
The sprayed insoluble copper (Bordeaux particles) is gradually dissolved by rain dew, air and the organic acids of the pathogens, and the copper ions are adsorbed into the surface of the pathogens.
The copper ions then inhibit the enzyme system of the pathogen, making Bordeaux mixture non-selective and broad-spectrum.
The copper ions in Bordeaux mixture also promote the ethylene production of the plant.
If you use the Bordeaux mixture the crop will show robust growth and increased resistance to pathogens.

The conventional Bordeaux mixture preparation method uses two containers.
Copper sulphate is dissolved in one container and quicklime is digested in the other container to form lime milk, which is then cold stirred and the copper sulphate solution is added to the lime milk side.
In this process, warm water is often used when dissolving the copper sulphate, so if additional preparation during cold months is not carried out, the particles coarsen and suspension properties are significantly impaired.
Agitation is also an extremely important factor in the preparation of fine particles.
In short, it is difficult to get a Bordeaux mixture with a uniform particle size, as quality stability and other factors are greatly affected by the way it is mixed, and considerable skill is required.
In addition, the preparation has always required the use of two or more containers, in addition, it was not possible to make and store the solid particles as the crystals gradually grow and the particles became larger when left after preparation.
IC Bordeaux is a paste Bordeaux mixture that can compensate for the disadvantages of conventional Bordeaux mixture while retaining their advantages.
Features of IC Bordeaux
IC Bordeaux is an environmentally friendly fungicide that can be used on organic produce under the new JAS Law, with no restrictions on the number of days or frequency before harvest.
(i) Fungicidal against a wide range of diseases in many crops.
(ii) Low cost.
(iii) Resistant bacteria will not happened.
(iv) Long-lasting fungicidal effect (residual effect).
(v) Only needs to be diluted with water.
(vi) Can be stored for a long time.
(vii) Very high adhesion to leaves.
(viii) No clogging due to fine particles.
Special section on Pseudomonas syringae pv.actinidiae
Pseudomonas syringae pv.actinidiae, a highly infectious disease not previously identified in Japan, is now raging in Japan.
Control measures against kiwifruit pests are important before damage occurs.
Spraying during 'post-harvest to pre-germination' is effective for pest control.
Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae multiplies in trees during autumn and winter when temperatures are cooler.
In addition, the kiwifruit may be infected by the fungus from harvest marks after harvesting and pruning, leading to increased damage.
In May 2014, Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae was confirmed in various regions (Ehime, Saga, Fukuoka and Okayama prefectures), and it is important to take control measures before damage occurs.
It is important to spray with IC Bordeaux 66D (25-50x) from after harvest, not only in outbreak areas but also in uninfected orchards, to prevent, and control the spread of infection.
